Obituary of Steve Bohler
May 25, 1937 – May 13, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we mournfully announce the passing of Steve Bohler on May 13, 2019 at the age of 81 years, surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born in Bozinci, Germany on May 25, 1937, the first of two children born to John and Barbara Bohler. His educational background included finishing school and learning two trades. He trained as a baker and to be a police officer with a K9 named Tex. After completing his trades, he immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia and made his way to Valleyview, Alberta, Canada on January 15, 1957 and in 1964 he married Ann Kiyawasew.
There is nothing that Steve enjoyed more than family, working with his sons and reminiscing. Steve was very proud of his family and he was also a skilled power saw and equipment operator. He worked various jobs throughout his life; on farms, sawmills, slashing and cooked in a restaurant. He was also a proud business owner of two different stores; the first Grande Prairie Pet Shop and Steve’s Variety Store.
Steve retired from grader operating in 2001 and moved to Beaverlodge, Alberta with Ann and from there they moved to Sturgeon Lake, Alberta. In his early retirement he enjoyed gardening and buying, fixing and selling vehicles. It was often said in his family home: “I wonder what Dad/Steve will be driving when he comes home?” Steve’s hobbies included experimenting in the kitchen with baking and cooking.
Steve will be deeply missed by his four children; Steve Jr. (Theresa), Brian (Frances), Rose (Dan Arcand), John (Dannielle) Chalifoux, grandchildren; Jessica (Travis) Terlesky, JerryLynn, Elias, Donal, Marcus, James, Walter, Amanda (Cory) Laboucan, Brian Jr., Barbara, Tori, Daniel, Chris, Caitlin, Quinn, Chase, Tirell, Denise, Darryl and Carmen. He will also be missed by his many great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Barbara Bohler, his brother Reynold Bohler, sons Jerry and Wayne Bohler and grandchildren Chad and Pat.
