Obituary of Lorelei Ann Walker

April 29, 1955 – January 3, 2019

Lorelei Ann Walker of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019 after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.

Lorelei was born in Grande Prairie, AB on April 29, 1955. She graduated from Grande Prairie Composite High in 1973 and continued on to receive a Degree in Anthropology and Business from University of Lethbridge in 1996.

Lorelei was married to Fred Walker in 1975 and gave birth to son Ian in 1976 and continued to raise Ian as a single parent throughout the eighties.

Lorelei worked as a Business Development Manager spanning from 1978.  This role took Lorelei all over Canada and the United States working in the Auto Sales Industry until her retirement in 2009. From High Level, AB to Houston, TX Lorelei had knack for problem solving and was flown around various dealerships to optimize their systems. Always adding a fun, upbeat personality to any work environment, Lorelei loved to have fun with her team, and would often print out

funny memes and cartoons regarding the daily grind. Lorelei would light up rooms with her presence, her inspiring smile, and beautiful personality captivated all who befriended her.

She always had a love of plants, and would often be on the patio enjoying the birds and flowers she meticulously maintained, and would plant every spring. Lorelei loved her community of Riverbend in Calgary, AB. and often reminded us of how lucky she and Brian were for residing there.  She loved the parks in Southern Alberta such as Waterton, and Fernie, BC and would often be out skiing, hiking, or canoeing while attending the University of Lethbridge from 1993-1997. A real weekend warrior!

Lorelei was always putting people before herself, this was her gift to us. She would often help those in need of a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or a couch to sleep on. Lorelei loved to lift people up and would remind us if our “Mojo” was waning in any way. Lorelei loved to listen to blues music loud, laugh out loud, dance in the open. She was selfless in her giving.

In 2009 Lorelei took the job of caring for her mother, Ardis in her home in Calgary, AB. In 2013 Lorelei said goodbye to her mother due to cancer, and then was diagnosed with her own cancer that same year. A long battle ensued from 2013 until 2018 when we had learned the cancer had spread to her lungs. She fought so hard to share Christmas and New Years with us. Her decision to privately fight the disease was a hard one. Refusing chemotherapy and many traditional treatments she fought the disease on her own terms. She did not want others to worry, as she was silently fighting, she expressed the desire to be cremated and that two Celebrations of Life take place, and to make it as simple and easy as possible for those wishing to say goodbye. Those that know Lorelei, know that she is very detail oriented! She will be missed by many and will leave many people missing her smile. You can never forget her smile…

Lorelei is survived by her beloved spouse of 15 years Brian Dale Teierle, of Calgary, AB. And her son Ian Walker of Calgary, AB, two beautiful cats Chance, and Remington, and numerous other family and friends.

Lorelei is preceded in death by her brother Randal Suek, both parents Ralph Suek, and Ardis Suek (Shannon), grandparents Ester and Ray Shannon (Peterson), and Leo and Barbara Suek.
