Obituary of Rudy Rukavina

August 30, 1932 – August 28, 2019

It is with sadness we announce the passing of a brother, uncle and friend – Rudy Rukavina.

Rudy was born August 30, 1932 on his parents’ farm to Milka and Dujo Rukavina. He died suddenly on that same farm August 28, 2019, his home, at the age of 86 years.

Rudy went to school in Silverwood. Bought a gravel truck and worked from home for a number of years. He eventually moved to Valleyview where he ran a coin laundry with his sister and brother-in-law, worked for Sherk, and he also farmed there. He moved back to the Rycroft area where he retired on the family farm. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Rudy is survived by his brother Joe, sister Violet, seven nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Martin and Carl and great nephew Conan.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie).

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Rycroft on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. with Father Arockiam Savarimuthu officiating. Interment to follow at the Old Mission Cemetery.
