Kory Rycroft

Obituary of Kory John Rycroft

May 10, 1995 – December 29, 2016 Kory John Rycroft arrived in this world on May 10, 1995 and changed all of our lives forever. He arrived early…better early than late!!!!! and howling with a voice bigger than his precious 6 pounds 5 ounces. Immediately his dad Gary Rycroft, mom Denise Giebelhaus and big sisters Tiara and Mychel Jai knew he was the perfect addition to the family. Kory (aka: Kory John, Dumbass, Kor, Bug, Jimmy and Dog) lived his life full of love and adventure. Always seeing all things as an opportunity….. Always moving forward to follow his dreams and numerous passions. His family was large and he continued to make his ‘family’ bigger and better all over this world (literally). Kory embraced everyone as family. Kory left us on December 29, 2016 knowing how much he is loved by all of his family and friends. Every day he returned that love - without exception. Our young man lived his life loud - just like his voice, big - just like his smile and meaningfully – just like his hugs. Kory had an unending passion for his family and friends, firefighting and his brotherhood, Rotary International, giving back, traveling, sports, music, two-stepping and movies. Everyone always felt like they were the most important person in his beautiful life… and they were! Kory is survived and held close to the hearts of his Dad, Gary Rycroft (Coralie), his Mom, Denise Giebelhaus-Graw (Hugh)1 and siblings Tia (John), Christy (Ryan), Donny, Riley (Kirsten), Kory William (Kallie), Natasha (Steven), as well as too many other loved ones to name individually – including his Argentinian families Carlos/Graciela and Julio/Marita and their families. Kory John was predeceased by his big sister Mychel Jai Rycroft, Grandma Edith and Grandpa Jim Rycroft, Grandma ‘G’ (Evelyn) and Grandpa Leo Giebelhaus, Auntie Gayle Rycroft and cousin Justin Rycroft. We will pay tribute to Kory John and his ‘Incredible Journey’ in a Celebration of his Life on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beaverlodge Regional High School, followed by his “Final Ride” to the Valhalla Cemetery and a gathering at the Beaverlodge Community Centre for pizza and wings where we can all share in our love for this great young man.
