Obituary of Gordon F. Morrison "Goog"
October 6, 1932 – January 17, 2017
The strength and character of Gordon F. Morrison aka “Goog” became treasured memories as he passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84, after battling diabetes and being on dialysis for many years. He had a varied working life, and worked hard at everything he did. As a young man, he worked as a ranch hand (Bri Saddle), breaking horses and driving cattle. He later worked for Ducks Unlimited, Port Radium in the midnight sun, and in the Norwest Territories. He spent time in BC dock yards, operating cranes, and at Edmonton Power on wirelines and power poles. He operated heavy equipment, drove long-haul truck, and drove buses for ETS.
Gordon had some fun, too. He played hockey for the ETS Brills and enjoyed curling, pool, a good game of crib or cards, and napping under a tree. Gordon was a very good dancer and was once called “The Waltz King”. He always worked hard but he loved to travel, and always enjoyed his time away with family and friends. Gordon was well-respected and was very good company to his many friends.
Gordon is survived by his daughters, Abby and Jody, both of County of Grande Prairie; his brother Cyril from Shawinigan Lake, brother Donald of Victoria; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father Gordon Spencer Morrison, mother Frances Jannet McKay Morrison, wife Marion Ruth Palmer Morrison in 2005, his brother Patrick in 1978; daughters Marilyn 2008, Valerie 2003, and Linda in 1976.
A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held on April 8, 2017 in Edmonton. Details to follow.
