Obituary of Victor Nasedkin

September 28, 1925 - February 8 2017 Victor Nasedkin was born in Homeglen, Alberta to Peter and Evdokia Nasedkin into a blended family. They moved to Spirit River in 1927 where they experienced many difficult times, the oldest children working out so the family could eat. In 1931 they homesteaded at the Gage district Northwest of Fairview, Alberta. It was during this war that dad met the love of his life, Jenny (Nadya) Polukoshko, at a Highland Park dance January 7, 1945. Jenny and Victor were married July 21, 1946 in a double wedding with his sister Zoya and Nick Andruff. They ran a general store, post office and dad even built a box on the back of a farm truck, called it a school bus and operated it for 7 years. Vic & Jenny, Mom and Dad, Baba and Deda; they were a couple, a team, business partners, partners in life. A person never referred to one without the other. They ran a bulk fuel dealership in Fairview, owned apartments and rental homes, and built the Midtowner Motel in downtown Fairview. Dad was a weed inspector, airplane pilot, ski-doo racer, hunter, lapidarist, jeweller, entertainer, parachutist and a child of God. They were blessed with five children: Judy Hughes, Leanne and Karen; Ken Nasedkin (d. 1993); Shirley (Michael) Kearney, Clayton, Reece and Matthew; Joe Nasedkin (Betty Doll), Nadia and Jeremy and Amy (d. 1995); Richard (Margaret Henderson), Stefan, Tomas, Allison, Maryn, Liam and Danica. And continuing the tradition of love, family and perseverance, seven great grandchildren: Alexandra, Jasper and Cohen (Leanne); Hayden and Lawson (Karen); Cooper (Clayton); Maggie (Nadia). The family tradition started with those that left before him. Victor was predeceased by his parents Peter, 1966, Evdokia,1946 and Peter’s children: 2 unknown sisters in Russia, Joe, 1960, Van, 1957, Alftina (Ella), 2002. Evdokia’s children: Zina (Mike) Kosheiff, 2003, Nick (Eleanor) Nasedkin, 1991, Jean (Peter) Doumnoff (1998), Viola (Mike) Mihailoff, 2001, Jim (Irene) Nasedkin, 2006. He is survived by his sister Zoya Andruff of Nanaimo, BC. A funeral service for Vic will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 AM at Christ Church Anglican 6610 Poplar Drive, Grande Prairie.
