Obituary of Edward Louis Schmidt

May 12, 1938 – March 16, 2017 With heavy hearts, the family of Edward Louis Schmidt (formerly of Spruce Grove), announces his passing at the Grande Prairie hospital on March 16, 2017 after being ill for a period of time. He was residing with his son Craig and daughter-in-law, Katherine. Edward is survived by his two sons: Tim (Suzanne) and Craig (Katherine), daughter Jamie (Dean), 6 grandchildren, as well as step- grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren; his elder brother Fred, and sisters Doreen and Linda(Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was born in Golden Spike Alberta and lived there on the family farm for most of his younger years. Buying his first guitar at the age of 15, he was playing on a radio station within a year. Music became a big part of his life and Ed played in bands and was a big part of the jamboree scene in later years when he retired. Ed was a farmer, a carpenter and sold Real-estate in the Edmonton area, winning awards as top salesman in the 1970’s. He is pre-deceased by his parents Karl and Elisabeth Schmidt, his wife Lorraine, sister, Roberta, and brother George. Memorial Services are being held; Wednesday Mar 22, 2017 - 7:00 p.m. Church of Christ, Mission Heights 8321 Mission Heights Drive Grande Prairie Sat Mar 25, 2017 - 1:30 p.m. St. John Lutheran Church 51301 Range Rd 274 Golden Spike, Spruce Grove Inurnment will be at the Pioneer Cemetery Hwy 16A east of Spruce Grove.
