Obituary of Teresa Cary Tomshak

February 24, 1968 – April 16, 2017 Teresa Cary Tomshak passed away April 16, 2017 at the age of 49 years after a long and courageous battle with Huntington Disease. Teresa was born to Edward & Dorothy Tomshak on February 24, 1968 and was raised on the family farms in Hythe and later Beaverlodge and took her schooling in those communities as well. Teresa called Grande Prairie home for most of her adult life. Teresa loved to spend time outdoors and her favorite activities were riding horses and spending time at her families trap line. Teresa will be remembered for her fun loving personality and her fierce independence through to the end. Teresa will be sadly missed by her father, Edward Tomshak, brother Randy Tomshak, sister-in-law Heather Tomshak (Tyler Hoff), brother-in-law Cliff (Ann) Williams, and aunts Milli Johnson, Loretta Buckley, Debbie Balcome, Cam Switzer, and Joanne Gammel as well as Uncle Gordon (Trudy) Switzer. She was pre-deceased by her mother Dorothy Tomshak, brother Paul Tomshak, sister Audrey Williams, and uncles John Switzer and Dale Balcome. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Points West Care Facility and the Sexsmith Medical Clinic team, especially Dr. Oosthuizen and Dr. Von Tonder, for all of their support and compassion for Teresa as she fought her fight against Huntington Disease. Teresa’s family and friends are invited to join together for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29 at 3:00PM at the Paradise Inn, 11201 100 Avenue, Grande Prairie. in the banquet room.
