Obituary of Louis Michael Schischikowsky
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Louis on July 2.
Louis was born in Friedenstal, Russia on May 17, 1925 and immigrated with his parents and three sisters to Canada in 1930. They homesteaded in Gage, Alberta where he attended Ranger school. In 1944, he joined the army and was discharged in 1945. In 1948, he married Fannie Andreeff and they began their long-life journey together. Louis tried his hand at farming in Gage, and logging in BC before beginning a career with Shell in 1951, which lasted 28 ½ years. During that time, he and Fannie travelled with the company to various places in Alberta before settling in Worsley. He retired at the age of 54 in Hines Creek and finally to Fairview in 2006. Louis liked to hunt, golf, fish, curl, bowl, and play cards. He spent many years volunteering, and if you had any small appliances or power saws that needed fixing, you called Louis!
Louis will be deeply missed by his wife Fannie Schischikowsky, Children Annette (Jerry) Langdale, Chris (Crissy) Schischikowsky, Karen (Garry) Wasylciw, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister Elsie (Mike) Radzick, brothers Leonard (Shirley) Schischikowsky, Jerry (Dell) Schischikowsky, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his daughter Tresa Schischikowsky, great grandson Dustin Langdale, parents Martin and Elizabeth Schischikowsky, sisters Olga Schischikowsky, Monica Roy, and Adeline Kerschbaumer.
Funeral service for Louis will be held in the Fairview United Church, Monday July 10, 2017, at 11:00am. Following the service family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Dunvegan Motor Inn. Burial at Gage Holy Trinity Cemetery for the immediate family.
