Obituary of Catherine (Cathy) Gaile Berg

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine (Cathy) Gaile Berg on September 23, 2017 at the age of 67.   Cathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her friends and family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cathy was born in Nipigon, Ontario on April 15, 1950 to Raymond and Verna Landry.  On December 11, 1969, Cathy married Jack Berg in Prince Albert, Sask. and in 1970, they moved to Grande Prairie, AB.

Cathy worked at P & G Pulp Mill for numerous of years and once her two sons were born, Randy & John, Cathy stayed home to raise them.  Cathy and Jack enjoyed travelling and many summers in Ripple Rock.  They were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to pack up the motorhome and drive across Canada with the boys.   Every year, Cathy would travel with Jack to the Brier no matter where it took them in Canada. 

Cathy enjoyed spending her time with friends and family, gardening and making sure her yard was pristine and never missed an opportunity to ‘go for milk’ at the casino.   Cathy will be deeply missed by all her family including her sons, Randy Berg of Grande Prairie, Alberta; grandchildren Henry, Franklin and Shandi; John (Sheri-Ann) Berg of Grande Prairie, Alberta, grandchildren Kingsley and Keyana Berg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Verna Landry; her husband, Jack Berg and her sister, Ruth Anne Landry. 

A celebration of life will be held for Cathy on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at People’s Church located at 11850 108 Street, Grande Prairie, AB.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to be made at the Ronald McDonald House (www.rmhcna.org) in her name.
