Obituary of Darren John Josephson

Darren John Josephson
September 18, 1969 – November 28, 2017
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Darren John Josephson on November 28, 2017 at the age of 48 with his family at his side.
Darren was born to his wonderful parents Leo Vern Josephson, Doreen Leah Josephson and his sister Michele Williams (nee Josephson) on September 18, 1969 in Ile a la Crosse, Saskatchewan.  He grew up in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan where he excelled at everything that interested him. Darren played goal for Meadow Lake Minor Hockey up until the Bantam level. As an adult he moved to Saskatoon to attend Kelsey Institute where he studied Power Engineering. It was when he moved to Calgary that he began a career in sheet metal.
Darren moved to the Sexsmith area in 2004 where he instantly felt at home.  He joined ACCU FAB in 2008 where he immediately became part of a large family. He had the utmost respect for Geoff and Karie. Darren’s pride and dedication to his work was evident to everyone who worked around him. He quickly moved into a leadership role, where he was highly respected by his crew. Darren took it upon himself to ensure the department always ran smoothly.
Darren married the love of his life, Bobbi Lee on July 21, 2012 and together they raised five amazing children.  Bobbi and Darren were always together, whether it was dinner out, attending a kid’s sport or activity or just simply grocery shopping; you couldn’t find one without the other. Darren coached his boys for a few seasons in Sexsmith Minor Hockey in which he took great pride; if there was a game being played he was there.  Also, he immensely enjoyed watching Julianna play volleyball and rugby.
Darren was larger than life and he bravely fought his cancer diagnosis with all his might.  He will be fondly remembered for his radiant smile, wonderful, cheesy and sometimes inappropriate sense of humour as well as his tremendous love for his family, friends and every animal he ever crossed paths with.
Darren will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Bobbi and his children of whom he was so very proud: Ryley (Cheri) Urlacher, Jesiah (Taylor) Warner, Riley (Alysse) King, Damion King, Brooklyn King and Julianna (Simeon) Josephson.  He is also survived by his parents, Leo and Shirley Josephson, his sister, Michele (Dwayne) Williams,  his brothers, Ken (Colleen) Read, Gregory (Laurie) Read; his brothers-in-law, Kaylon Dolen, Ryan (Jancey) Dolen, Brad Sorell, Jimmy Adair and his sister-in-law, Allison (David) Tubman.  His treasured nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Rachel, Carter, Kelby, Kiarra, David, Norman, Wyatt, Leah, Alex, Sawyer, Ken, Lyta, Brent, Zach, Alexis and all his friend’s children.  There wasn’t a child Darren didn’t love with his whole heart.
Darren was predeceased by his mother Doreen Leah Josephson, his infant son Sage Parker Josephson and brother-in-law Kevin Dolen.
A Memorial Service for Darren will be held on Wednesday, December 6th at 11:00 at People’s Church, 11850 – 108 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Donations in Darren’s memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House in Calgary as this place was near and dear to Darren’s heart.  This was a comforting place that supported Darren while he put his life on hold to watch over his son Sage.  Ronald McDonald House, 111 West Campus Place NW, Calgary, AB T3B 2R6
