Obituary of Doreen Lois Hafner
October 23, 1937 – July 29, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Lois Hafner on July 29, 2018 at the Grande Prairie Hospice and Palliative Care facility.
Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, Great Aunt and Friend; she will be missed by all.
Doreen was born on October 23, 1937 in Coronation, Alberta to Chester and Helen Bradshaw. She spent her younger years on a farm by Leask, Alberta and moved to Grimshaw with her parents and older sister, Mary Lou on Christmas, 1950. Through the years she attended Grimshaw School and part of Grade 10 in Berwyn and at that time she worked for AGT.
Doreen met Harvey on the side of the road when he stopped to help her fix a flat tire. Brenda was born on August 26, 1954, Corinne on June 6, 1957, David on February 24, 1960 and Gerald on May 5, 1962.
The family lived in many places throughout the years including; Pouce Coupe, BC, Peace River, AB, Grande Prairie, AB and Dawson Creek, BC. Doreen spent her last years in Wetaskiwin and Grande Prairie, AB.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Harvey, her sister Mary Lue Blakley, daughter Brenda and son in law Gary.
She is survived by her daughter, Corinne, son, David (Gayle) and son, Gerald (Trish). She was at the helm of 8 grandchildren; Braden (Kristie), Casandra (Joe), Kelly (Justin), Greg (Chrissy), Kim (Steve), Mathew (Stevie), Nick (Tanya) and Kaitlee as well as 8 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Doreen will be held at the Grimshaw Legion, 5011 49 Avenue, Grimshaw on Saturday, September 1st at 2pm.
