Obituary of Doreen Louisa Fair
December 9, 1923 – October 21, 2018
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Fair on October 21, 2018.
Doreen was born on December 9, 1923 in Flats, Saskatchewan and her family moved to a farm north of Hythe, Alberta. Later on she met the love of her life, Johnston, and they married, on January 18, 1943.
Four children followed and 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren.
On the farm she loved gardening, working in the fields, milking cows and her chickens kept her busy, always with fresh eggs for all. Another passion of Mom’s was sewing and she spent many hours sewing clothes and quilts for her family. The smell of fresh bread baking always made our mouths water and we were thrilled when she gave us bread to take home. All of the grandkids and great grandkids remember the cookie jars; always full and very tasty! Love you much Granny! Miss you forever..
Mom was also a lifetime member of the Royal Purple.
Doreen is survived by her daughters Gwen (Larry) Hommy and Judy (Calvin) Holland, son Dennis (Fern) Fair, grandchildren Monica (Donald) Elliot, Darren Hommy, Andy Hommy, Dustin (Ashleigh) Holland, Kevin (Emilyn) Southwick, Arlan (Laura) Southwick, Naomi (Fred) Treiber, Clinton Fair and many great and great great grandchildren and a longtime friend, Bev Scott.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Johnston Fair, daughter Kay Southwick, grandson Darrell Hommy, and siblings, sister Ivy Eastman and brother Gordon Boan.
A Graveside service for family and friends of Doreen will be held on October 27 at 1pm at Riverview Cemetery, Beaverlodge with a reception to follow at the Albright Hall.
