Obituary of Dorleen Doris (Sloat) Campbell-Uhryn

March 11,1935 – December 19, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorleen Doris Uhryn, on December 19, 2018, at the Palliative Care Hospice in Grande Prairie

Dorleen was born March 11, 1935 in Northmark, Alberta. Home was in Westmark, just above the Burnt River where she lived and went to school with her many brothers and sisters. Dorleen left Westmark as a teenager to pursue a variety of job opportunities, settling in Edmonton with  her husband, Ronnie and daughter, Jeri, eventually moving to Calgary. Together they raised their three daughters. After the early passing of Ronnie, Dorleen pursued a career as a nursing assistant and continued to raise her daughters until they graduated. In 1979, Dorleen quit nursing and moved to Woking, Alberta to be closer to her family and to become the owner/operator of the Woking General Store. It was there that she met and married Leonard Uhryn. For the past 39 years Dorleen has served the hamlet of Woking and surrounding area as a business owner and dedicated volunteer.

Dorleen is survived by her husband, Leonard Uhryn, daughters Jeri, Wendy and Kathy and their respective families. She is also survived by her brother Floyd Sloat, sister-in-law Margaret Sloat and brother-in-law Henry Deiderich.  Her stories and memories will also live on with her many nieces and nephews.

Dorleen was pre-deceased by her first husband Ronnie Campbell (1962), her parents Irene and Henry Sloat, brothers and sisters; Ivy (Henry Thompson), Hazel (Orval Villneff), Jay, Alfred (Erika), Henry (Edith), Mildred (Julian Jobson), Myrtle Deiderich, Mabel (Sam Jantz) and Lloyd.
