Obituary of Eric Darnell Hollingworth

July 9, 1985 – December 29, 2018

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Eric Darnell Hollingworth at the age of 33 years. Eric passed away in Vancouver on December 29th, 2018. 

Eric was born at QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB and raised on an acreage North of Sexsmith AB.  He attended school in Sexsmith.  He played minor hockey and baseball in Sexsmith.  He continued into adulthood with golf, and bowling and hockey as well as camping.  He was an extraordinary active member in the communities of Teepee Creek and LaGlace.  After graduation, he worked various jobs before becoming a pipefitter.  He formed his own Company, Leprikan Fitting and was contracting at Sundown Oilfield Services.

Eric worked hard and played hard.  Eric and Adam enjoyed many trips together including the World Juniors in Calgary in 2012, the east coast the summer of 2018 and the World Juniors in Vancouver. Eric also went to Australia and loved his skydiving experience there. Eric had little patience for people who didn’t have his work ethic and would not hesitate to let them know.  He also let you know when he liked you and thought you were doing your job well.  He was also very generous and giving. 

Eric is survived by his parents Doug and Peggy Hollingworth, brother Ian (Cyndi) Hollingworth and sister Courtney Hollingworth.  He is also survived by his grandfather Willie Zahara and grandmother Shirley Hollingworth as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  He was predeceased by his brother Adam Hollingworth, cousin Joel Zahara, grandmother Della Zahara and grandfather Norman Hollingworth and cousin Niki Hollingworth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tara Centre (formerly the Entrec Centre) at Evergreen Park on January 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  Donations may be made to the LaGlace Agricultural Board, PO Box 185, LaGlace, AB, T0H 2J0 (email transfers accepted at aeholly8385@gmail.com with a message that specifys the LaGlace Agricultural Board) or the charity of one’s choice.
