Obituary of Glen Wowk

August 25, 1938 - January 4, 2019

With great sadness we announce the passing of Glen Wowk, January 4, 2019 at the age of 80, Glen was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Eileen.

Father to Christopher (Daana), Katherine (Todd), and grandfather to Ashleigh and Jayce; oldest brother to Irene, Richard, John, Dan, Edith, Ed, and Mike; Glen will be missed by all.

Glen was born in Bonnyville, AB, striking out on his own at the age of 18, joining the Royal Canadian Air Force.  He was stationed in Clinton, Ont and Comox B.C. He loved the military, but left to work on the Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line, because as he said  "The DEW Line paid 4 times more!"

His journey brought him to Grande Prairie, working for AGT as a microwave and communication specialist, because "The hunting was better"

Glen was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was never happier than when he was out in the woods, on the lake, or sunning himself like a lizard!

We would like to thank Dr. Trollip and Dr. Renfree, as well as the staff at the QEII Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held for both Glen and Eileen Wowk, in Grande Prairie, August 3 and 4, 2019.
