Obituary of Frank Joseph Appel
September 17, 1957 – April 25, 2019
Frank Joseph Appel, the much loved husband to Mavis, cherished son of Mother, Dyanne and father Francis (predeceased in 2014) and “best brother ever” to Deb, passed away in hospital on April 25, 2019.
A decade of failing health did nothing to diminish his love of life. Through sheer force of will, he managed to find a bit of joy in every day; and we loved him for it. Frank lived a full life in less years than most of us are given. He earned many achievements both personal and professional. He was active in his community and church. He never shied away from a rousing political discussion and his debating skills were well known among his friends and colleagues. Frank was a wonderful person and loyal friend. We will miss and love him all the days of our lives.
Although Frank was very involved in many aspects of the community, the one he was most passionate about was the Signature Support Service Society. He began volunteering with them in 2007 as a public board member. He contributed through the years as Director at Large, then as Secretary Treasurer until 2011 at which time he was voted in as the Vice Board Chair, a position he held until 2018. Although Frank’s health continued to deteriorate, Darrin, Ryan and Chris would often visit Frank in the hospital to discuss ongoing projects of the Society. He was always eager to find out how things were progressing.
There will be no funeral by request.
