Obituary of Darcy Eilert Kristensen

August 1, 1960 – June 9, 2019

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Darcy Eilert Kristensen on Tuesday, June 9, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer.

Darcy was born on August 1, 1960 to Jens and Helga Kristensen and was later joined by two sisters, Lorraine and Bev.  Eventually, the family settled on Helga’s family farm in Woking, AB.  Darcy graduated from Spirit River High School and moved on to take Aircraft Maintenance Engineering at SAIT and worked on helicopters in Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Darcy eventually started driving truck in the Peace Country and helping out on the family farm.  He met his wife Lori and they married on July 19, 1986, settling in Spirit River and starting a family.  A son, Kyle and a daughter, Amber were born during this time.  The family later moved onto the family farm in Woking where Darcy continued to farm and drive truck.

In 1997 the family moved into Grande Prairie where later a son-in-law, Derek and a daughter-in-law, Heather were added to the family, along with two grandchildren, Connor and Kinzie.

Darcy loved camping, golfing, skiing, cooking and his family most of all.  He will be sadly missed.

Darcy is survived by his wife, Lori Kristensen, son Kyle Kristensen (Heather), daughter, Amber Fournier (Derek), grandchildren Connor and Kinzie.  He is also survived by his sister Lorraine Fedchuk (Rod), nieces Lindsay (Mike), Chelsea (Dustin), nephew Carson, sister Bev Boreham (Mel), nephew Dustin (Sonia), and niece Janine, along with five great nephews and one great niece; mother-in-law Jean Fushtey, father-in-law Mike Fushtey and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother and father Helga and Jens Kristensen, paternal grandparents Olaf and Almeda Kristensen, maternal grandparents Eilert and Freida Pleis, brother-in-law John O’Shea and father-in-law Marvin O’Shea.

A Funeral service for Darcy will be held on Friday, June 14^th at 1pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Northmark, with interment at Northmark Public Cemetery and a luncheon to follow at the Westmark Hall.
