Obituary of Ninfa Salamanca Suarez
November 29, 1939 – July 21, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ninfa Salamanca Suarez. Surrounded by her loving family, she joined our Saviour on July 21, 2019 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital at the age of 79 years.
Ninfa or “Ninggud” ( as fondly called by her siblings) was born on November 29,1939 in Iloilo, Philippines. She graduated from Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Central Philippine University in 1964 and worked as a Grade 5 Teacher at Mapili Elementary School from 1965 until her retirement in 2001. She is best remembered as a warm, kind, generous, compassionate and hardworking teacher by her pupils and co-teachers. She devoted her early retirement years serving the Lord as a member of Neo Catechumenate and The Prayer Warriors in her hometown of Janiuay, Iloilo where she gained many friends in Christ until she migrated to Canada in May 2010 to be with her children. In March 2011, she was overjoyed with the birth of her only grandchild, Braden Andrew whom she had so much affection for and loved her role as a “Lola” to him. She treasured her children and family and embraced every moment with them.
Ninfa was predeceased by her husband Jose, her parents Quirico and Dolores, her siblings Warlito, Normita and Wilfredo. She will be greatly missed by her children Joni, Mary Ann (Juan Carlos), Maria Catherine (Gabriel), grandson Braden Andrew, her siblings Ofelia, Jose, Ramon, Jesus and Hector and all her cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Prayer service and viewing will be held on Friday, July 26,2019 at 7:00-9:00 pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Ave, Grande Prairie. A Mass of Catholic Burial for Ninfa will be held on Saturday, July 27,2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church,10404 102 St. Grande Prairie with Reception to follow at Bear Creek Funeral Home.
