Obituary of Paul Engvold Listoe

March 9, 1943 – July 23, 2019

Paul Engvold Listoe passed away July 23, 2019 at Prairie Lake Hospice after a brief illness.

Paul was born March 9, 1943 in Torquay, Saskatchewan to Bergine and Ole Listoe. He was the 7th child out of 10. Paul attended school in Torquay then moved to Saskatoon where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan. Paul earned a CGA degree in 1975.

He spent one year in Calgary articling for Winspear, Higgins, Stevenson and Doan, then one year in Yellowknife, before moving to Grande Prairie to work as an accountant for Grande Prairie Co-op. His career at the Co-op spanned 31 years and after several promotions, he served as General Manager until his retirement in June 1998. After a couple of years of retirement, he decided to go back to work and spent the next 6 years working full or part-time for Brinks.

Paul married Sheila (Drysdale) on December 31, 1970 and had 2 wonderful daughters, Trina & Dineen.

Paul will be greatly missed by Sheila, Trina, Dineen (Gunn Hege Nilsen), his brothers Danny (Bessie), David (Sandra), John (Pam) and his sister, Grace West, sisters-in law Doris Listoe, Joyce Listoe, and Emily Listoe; Sheila’s sisters Sherrill (Harry Southern) and Adell Veldhuis (Hal Buechner), brothers Don Drysdale (Shelley Linn) and Brian Drysdale (Sharon) plus 35 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

Paul was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Philip, and Bernard, and sisters, Rosalyn Kemtrup and Florence Morck; brothers-in-law Mel Kemtrup, Paul Morck and Dan West; nieces, Carol Derksen and Michelle Listoe, nephews, Eric West and Mark Listoe.

Paul was a charter member of the Sons of Norway in Grande Prairie and very proud of his Norwegian heritage. He was on the Board of Directors for the Grande Prairie Credit Union for many years.  He enjoyed golfing and curling, and had many good years playing senior slo-pitch both in Grande Prairie and area as well as in Mesa, Arizona for 13 winters.  He made many wonderful friends through these sports.

A Memorial service will be held on August 6th at 1:00 pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie.
