Obituary of Margaret Mary McFadden

August 12, 1932 – July 28, 2019

Margaret McFadden, long-time resident of Woking, AB, passed away peacefully at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, on July 28, 2019.

Margaret was born in Fairview, AB, on August 12, 1932.  She was the 4th child of 6 children.  She graduated high school in Fairview and started with a career in working for the Royal Bank, in Grande Prairie, Vancouver, and Edmonton.

  She loved to play softball, and travel home to Fairview to see her family.  She met John McFadden in 1972, they were married later that year.   Their son Patrick was born the following year and they moved to their farm in 1974.   This is where she found her true calling here where she raised a family, and operated their family farm with cows, grain and gardens.  She did this until well into retirement with her husband. Her strong will and determination allowed her to stay at the farm, until her last few months.

She will be sadly missed by her loving son Paddy, brother Cliff Friedel, brother Len (Mabes) Friedel, brother Pat (Karen) Friedel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband John, her father and mother Bernard and Helen Friedel, her brother George Friedel, and sister Isabel Bozak.

A funeral service for Margaret will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spirit River (5019 43 Avenue, Spirit River, AB) on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 2pm.
