Obituary of Ross Deverell Fritz

August 27, 1963 – August 13, 2019

Ross Deverell Fritz, 56, of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away, August 11, 2019, at his home due to unexpected health conditions.

 Ross was born August 27, 1963 in Grande Prairie, Alberta to his loving late parents, Martin and Faye Fritz. He was a self-taught mechanic and body man who loved mentoring anyone who was interested in learning. Ross was employed at many different logging companies and knew how to operate a variety of equipment. He was always out on the road pulling long hours. He enjoyed working night and day, whether it be driving long hours and late nights or tinkering in his shed or at close friend’s houses on vehicles.

He was an avid wheeler and dealer. He spent most of his days off trying to find good deals on his next purchase. He was very well known at Smitty’s before closing where he spent spare time playing the VLTs and drinking coffee. Ross treasured spending time with his stepdaughters and grandchildren whenever he could.

Ross is survived by his two stepdaughters, Jennifer Feenstra of High Level, Alberta Michelle Okoren of Fort Assiniboine Alberta; and his six grandchildren, his two brothers Darryl and Darwin and sister Birdie.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Faye.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 31 at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802-99 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB. Friends are welcome to attend to pay their respects.
