Obituary of Bertha Meyer

October 24, 1930 - August 21, 2019

Bertha Meyer was born on October 24, 1930 in Monnickendam, Netherlands and passed away at the QE II Hospital on August 21, 2019. 

Shortly after marrying the love of her life Herman in April 1953, the couple emigrated from Holland to the Grande Prairie area. They raised 8 children here.

Bertha is survived by many loved ones; her husband of 66 years, Herman, her sister Rie Heemskerk, her brother Siem Dekker (both from the Netherlands), her daughter Tina (Don) Luciak, their three children and her seven great-grandchildren, her daughter Alida (Jake) Wall and their two sons, her daughter Bertha (Jim) Lainchbury, their two daughters and her four great-grandchildren, her son Cornie Meyer, her son Peter’s widow Lisa (Rice) Meyer and their two children, her daughter Margaret (Barry) Lewis and their two children, her son Nick (Susie) Meyer and their daughter, her daughter Mary (Ron) Vader, their three daughters and her two great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her grandson James Luciak (2006), and her son Peter Meyer (2011).

She was given many to love and loved them all to the end.

A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie) beginning at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Service for Bertha will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church (10404 102 St, Grande Prairie). An Internment will happen at a later time for family and close friends.
