Burnett, Tonny (1937-2015)
Tonny Burnett, of Saskatoon Mountain, Alberta, passed away in Beaverlodge Hospital on May 27, 2015 at the age of 78 years. Tonny is survived by her husband Gary Burnett; daughters Carmen Howes and Anita Dyrbye, and sons Peter, Carlos, Rick, and George Burnett; grandchildren Chris Schreyer, D’Ann Howes, Alecia Schreyer, Bowen Schreyer, Cody Howes, Devin Scheyer, Christine Potter, Melissa Burnett and Chris Klix; great grandchildren, C. J. Scheyer, Brandon Fiest, Caydon Schreyer, Camdon Fiest, Ella Howes, Liam Potter, Isabella Klix, and Anna Burnett.
Born in Amsterdam, Tonny grew up as a beautiful, resourceful and hard working woman. She married Gary Burnett, a carpenter, in 1957. In 1966 she showed her love as she braved moving to Canada (Calgary) with Gary, not speaking a word of English and bringing with her five small children. She had her sixth child in Calgary. Tonny was true adventurer, living from city to country as she and Garry raised their brood of six. She was an incredible homemaker, mother, wife and powerful role-model, impacting many lives with her kindness throughout her life time. She is very loved and will be greatly missed.
There will be a viewing on May 29th at 7PM at Bear Creek Funeral Home 103 – 10920 84 Ave., Grande Prairie. Celebration of Life for Tonny Burnett will be on June 1st 2015, at 2:30 PM at Saskatoon Lake Hall by Wembley, Alberta, with interment to follow at Lake Saskatoon Cemetery.
