Obituary of Geneva Maude Lizotte (Rycroft)

June 18, 1934 – November 20, 2019

Geneva Maude Lizotte (Rycroft) of Teepee Creek, Alberta passed away on November 20, 2019 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 85 years.

Geneva was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta to Eric and Laureta Rycroft on June 18, 1934. When she was old enough, she was doing chores with her dad milking cows, feeding horses, pigs, chickens and goats. She was given the nickname “Billy” by her dad. By six she, with her brother Sam, were Roman standing down the lane on trusted stead’s Barney and Lady. Geneva broke her own saddle horse and by 15 years of age she competed in the first Ladies race on Danny Boy winning second place.

Geneva is survived by her partner, Garry Wolsey; children Sandra, Derrick (Dee), Cindy, Vern (Tina); grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, siblings Dennis, Iona, Tom, Heather and Diane.

She is predeceased by her husband Armond Lizotte; parents Eric and Laureta Rycroft; daughter Delise Lizotte; brothers Sam Rycroft and Paddy Rycroft.

Funeral Service for Geneva will be held Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at 2PM, Teepee Creek Hall, Teepee Creek. Inurnment following the service at Teepee Creek Cemetery.
