Obituary of Bruce Neil Martin

December 22, 1943 – December 30, 2019 It is with great sorrow that we have to say goodbye and put a great man to rest. Bruce Martin passed away peacefully on December 30, 2019 at the Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years - Sheila, his children; Stephanie, Troy (Lynn), Crystal (Aaron), his grandchildren; Alex, Will (Tiffany), Taylar, Madison, Lindsey, and Ella, his great-grandchildren; Jacob, Kaylee, Zane, and Rylan, his siblings; Ivy (Mick), Baxter (Betty), Elsa (Robert), Shannon (Lorraine), Fabian (Tammy), Garry (Maxine), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother June, and his father Malcolm. Bruce spent his early years in Newfoundland, eventually moving to Ontario where he worked as a miner. He and Sheila lived in the small community of Elliot Lake, where he was a president of the Lion’s Club. Despite living in Ontario, he was a true Newfie at heart. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He was a handyman that enjoyed fixing things and spending his time wood working. Bruce loved his family very much, moving with Sheila to Grande Prairie, Alberta to be close to his daughter Crystal and his grandchildren. His grandchildren were his joy. At Bruce’s request, there will be no service. Bruce’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses on 3N and 5N at the QEII Hospital for their amazing care, as well as to the nurses at the hospice for being there to support him and our family, a big thank you to Dr. Odufuwa for the amazing care and compassion that was shown to our family, and finally thank you to Pastor Bob from the People's Church for making sure Bruce was at peace.
