Obituary of James Ford
James Harold Ford of Okanagan Falls BC (formerly Grande Prairie, AB) passed away June 14, 2015 in Slave Lake Hospital at the age of 75 years.
Jim was born in Grande Prairie, AB Jan 17, 1940 to parents Harold and Julia Ford. He spent his younger years working at Bezanson General Store until he was 18. After the store he worked various jobs in his life. He was a man of many talents and he made numerous friends along the way that he has maintained lifelong friendships with. His friends meant the world to him.
Jim and Donna had a lot at Spruce Point Park for 30 years where Jim looked forward to spending summers with his grandchildren. He would sit on the deck in the sun reading his old westerns while watching the kids play in the sand and water.
In 2004 Jim and Donna decided to say goodbye to Alberta winters for good and moved to Okanagan Falls, BC. Jim discovered a new hobby in wine country and took up wine making. He took great pride in all his batches and you could always count on a good glass of wine when you went for a visit.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna. His son Shane(DeAnna), grandchildren Dustin Clarke(Caitlin), Mandy Stuart(Curtis), Stephanie Ford, Robyn Haugland(Brad Wall), Justis Ford and Jamie Ford. Jim’s brother Danny Ford(Marianne), sister Judy Purves, sister in law Joan Ford, brother in law Keith Coney, brother in law Clarence Griffin(Gwen) and sister in law Barb Abel. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jim is predeceased by his parents Harold and Julia Ford, in-laws Charlie and Della Griffin, daughter Charlene Ford, son Jamie Ford, granddaughter Desiree Ford, brother Elmer Ford, nephew Ernie Ford, sister Kay Coney, brother in law Mark Purves, brother in law Dave Griffin and sister in law Josephine. His best friend of 18 years and constant companion, Ginger, will be waiting for him and the constant supply of beef jerky.
A small gathering to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
