Obituary of Daniel M. Nelson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Danny passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Saturday July 25th, 2015.
Daniel Maurice Nelson was born on February 6th, 1967 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. His parents relocated to Grande Prairie in 1969 where he resided until his passing. Danny graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1984 and shortly thereafter began his 27 year career at Weyerhaeuser (formally Proctor& Gamble). Dan was respected in his workplace and formed many close relationships. His commitment to work was unsurpassed.
Danny is survived by Laureen (Dahl) his loving wife of 17 years and his boys Dylan (13) and Devon (9), mother Denise and 3 siblings Diane (Michael, Niko, Seth, Autumn Ouellette), Debbie (Greg, Sawyer Paterson) and Dale (Heather, Danelle, Dalen). He was predeceased by his father Derryl (2004). Danny also leaves to mourn numerous extended family and dear friends.
Danny’s love of life and sense of humor brought joy to those privileged to have known him. His kind and caring spirit enriched our lives with his presence. Danny was most happy in nature while sitting around a campfire, fishing off a boat or quading in the backwoods with his family and friends. He also had a passion for sports be it playing slow-pitch, golf, darts or gathering with friends to watch sporting events with a cold beer in hand. Of all of Danny’s passions, his most treasured moments were those spent with his soul-mate Laureen and two remarkable boys, Dylan and Devon.
We are so sad to lose this wonderful man, anchor of our family and life of the party. There is a void in our lives; our hearts are broken. Until we meet again.
