George Kniel, long time resident of Fairview, AB passed away peacefully in Grande Prairie, AB on Wednesday, September 09, 2015 at the age of 88 years surrounded by family. He is survived by Anna, his wife of 62 years, and his children Martin, Marie (Eldon) Lee, Michael (Marianne), Edward (Robyn), and Paul (Donna). George is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren, along with his sister, Philomena Dechant, and numerous other relatives. George was a carpenter and painter by trade, and a farmer at heart. He was predeceased by his father (John), mother (Emilie), older brother (Ralph), and younger brother (John). A celebration of George’s life will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Fairview on September 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with a private family interment to follow. George’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all who cared for him over the past years including Fairview and Grande Prairie home care staff along with Drs. Moreau, Norris and A. Barreth. We would also like to thank the numerous staff at The Gardens, nurses and staff at Grande Prairie Hospital 3N and Points West Living Hospice for their exceptional care.
