Obituary of Stephen Kwablah Niengor
Date of Birth: March 21, 1935 Date of death: October 31, 2015 Age: 80
In celebration and in mourning we announce that Stephen Niengor went to be with his Lord and Saviour after a battle with cancer.
Born of King Kojo Fordjuo (Kukua, Eastern Africa) and Marie Nakie (Kordiabe, Eastern Africa) Stephen Niengor grew up in West Africa where he was an influential pastor and earned a degree in psychology. He believed in the power of prayer and witnessed many miracles during his first years of ministry. He had two daughters prior to coming to Canada, Jemimah and Esther Someh. He immigrated to Red Deer, AB at the age of 30 after being accepted to a Bible School where he continued his studies in theology. He met his wife first Lynette Bowers and shortly after moved to Grande Prairie, AB where he became a junior pastor of Evangel Assembly. Stephen worked part time as a pastor while working full-time at Canfor. He and Lynette bore two children, Someh and Nartey, and divorced in 1982.
He continued to work at Canfor and pastor his own church “Voice in the Wilderness” until remarrying in 1992. He and his second wife bore his youngest son Jeremiah Niengor. Stephen continued his ministry to those struggling with addictions, assisting other pastors and as a guest speaker to many churches in Canada and Ghana up until he passed away.
Stephen’s life is a story of God’s amazing grace. In amidst our brokenness God still works miracles. Stephen bared witness of a supernatural ministry of healing, raising of the dead, casting out of unclean spirits and thousands of people coming to Christ. His faith never wavered in what God could do. For that we are grateful for his life and the faith we have inherited through him.
Stephen will be missed by his family in two countries. In Canada:
And in Ghana:
