Simonne Dorothy Houde passed away at Points West Living on July 27, 2013 at the age of 75 years. Simonne is survived by her children Richard, Rita, Suzie and Peter, and Denise, as well as numberous nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her beloved friend Maureen. She was pre-deceased by her partner Tom Stilwell and her sisters Lina Friesen and Renee Nicholson. Originally from Winnipeg, Simonne met the father of her children, Armand Houde, in Minaki, Ontario where she was living in a bush camp (Hillock Lake). She raised her children there before moving west. Simonne worked as a cook in hospitals in Ontario and Alberta, and loved to crochet in her spare time. She spent her last years in Grande Prairie, Grand Cache, and Hythe, where she continued to sing and dance amongst all her wonderful friends, especially Maureen and Hank. Simonne will be returning to Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario, with her daughter Rita. There she will ever rest in peace.
