Obituary of John Gordica
John Gordica died peacefully at home and entered into glory on Sunday, January 10, 2016. His family is grateful for no more doctor appointments and hospital stays and that he was able to spend his last remaining days at home with them.
John was a do-it-yourself man. If it was broken, he fixed it. Well, he usually fixed it. If he couldn’t fix it, it usually stayed broken! Not only could John fix things, but he could also create things. A beautiful barn stands on their farm as a testimony to his creativity and hard work.
John was often seen having coffee at Co-op and McDonalds. If John thought he knew or should know a person, he’d say: “Hi, I’m John Gordica. Are you related to so and so?”
Why can we write these words with such ease? It’s because after living 77 years of an often restless life, John found peace with his Saviour, Jesus Christ. Words cannot express our gratitude to Pam and Vern Landry who led John to the Lord at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on April 28th, this year.
John is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 52 years; daughter Carrie (Kevin) Warren and their children Ty and Lexie; son Brad (Gaby) Gordica and their children Hanna, Jonas and Rylee of Langley, BC; by his sister Jennie (Bill) Sokolik and family; and sister-in-law Marie Gordica all of Edmonton.
We are so thankful for the tremendous compassion of Dr. Angela Barreth and the Homecare Department for their assistance in caring for John during his last days with us.
