Obituary of Kenneth L Pool
Kenneth Lee Pool passed away on January 7th at 74 years of age. Ken was born in Beaverlodge on September 26, 1941 to Lee and Opal Pool. The family moved to Goodfare in the spring of 1947 and began farming. Ken attended Southwell School for five years, and Goodfare School for another four years. When the country schools closed, Ken travelled to Beaverlodge. He became very ill with Rheumatic Fever shortly after transferring to Beaverlodge, and spent much of that year in the hospital. Ken never returned to school.
Instead, he worked as a labourer and lumberjack for many years. He spent time in logging camps and in road construction, and helped his father on the farm during the off seasons. Ken was an avid fisherman and hunter, eventually becoming a licensed guide. He worked with his father in the mountains south and west of Grande Prairie, guiding and camping with horses. There are many stories shared between friends about the escapades Ken got into over the course of his life.
Ken is mourned by his daughter Kathleen Pool, his brother Clarence, and sisters Ruth (Bruno) and Gladys (David), his Aunt Mina Pool and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents Lee and Opal Pool, niece Georgina Weller and nephew Darren Weller.
The family will gather to celebrate Kenneth’s live in the summer of 2016. An announcement will be made at that time.
