Obituary of Johanna O Pearson
Johanna Pearson, lifelong resident of the Grande Prairie and Valhalla Centre areas passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital on February 6, 2016 three days short of her 92 birthday.
Jo was born at Valhalla Centre on February 9, 1924 to Carl and Marie Hornland. She was raised on the farm along with her five siblings and attended Odin School and Hythe High School. In 1946 she married Harold Pearson and they farmed together at Valhalla Centre where they raised their four children; Joy, Gail, Brenda & Harvey. The family moved to Grande Prairie in 1970 and it was then that Jo was able to use her expert sewing skills professionally at Townline Mens Wear and Fashions by Berés. After Harold’s passing she moved to Emerald Gardens where she has enjoyed life with a community of friends.
Jo is survived by her four children: Joy (Dale) Olesky, Gail (Clayton) Wylie, Brenda (Dan) Andrews and Harvey (Linda) Pearson; and her brother Martin Hornland. She was adored by her eleven grandchildren: Michael, Darryl, Tim, Greg, Scott, Stacey, Tara, Ross, Darren, Megan and Craig as well as her 18 great grandchildren.
Johanna was predeceased by her husband Harold Pearson, parents Carl and Marie Hornland, sisters; Christine Brandsater, Marie Nash and Caroline Elvestad and brother Harold Hornland.
A Memorial service for Johanna will be held on Saturday, February 13, at 11:am. At Trinity Lutheran Church, 10407-100 Street Avenue, Grande Prairie AB
