Obituary of Gordon A McDonald

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Alex McDonald on March 18, 2016. Gordon passed away peacefully with family at his side after a brave battle with cancer. Gordon was born on July 27, 1926, in McCord, Saskatchewan. When he was 11 years old the family moved to Sanford, Manitoba where they farmed. In 1947 he met the love of his life, Anna Banman, and they were married in 1948. Gordon and Anna farmed for a few years and then moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta. Together they raised 8 children. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Anna, of 65 years, daughter Carol and son Andrew. Gordon is survived by Alec (Sheila) their daughters Shannon and Ferrin; Barb (Andrew) Tarnowsk; Donald (Kellie) their daughter Charlie; Marie (Bob) Froehlick, their children Erin, Clinton and Jessica; Andrew’s daughter Shauna (John) McKeever, their children Joey, Sammy and Chase; Joanne Miller, her children Shamus and Dana, Jackie (Mark) Graunke, their children Ben and Cole and 17 great grandchildren. We would like to thank the caring nurses and staff on 5 North of the QEII hospital and from the Points West Hospice who gave our father such outstanding care. Please join the family for a celebration of Gordon’s life to be held at the Grande Prairie Seniors Center, 10222-101 Avenue, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Lunch will be served.
