Obituary of William E. O’Toole
June 20, 1932 – March 19, 2016
William (Bill) O’Toole passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at the age of 83 years. We were so fortunate to have our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather for one more St. Patrick’s Day celebration!
Bill was born on June 20, 1932 in Bruce Alberta. He was raised on the family dairy farm where he developed a lifelong love of animals, especially horses and dogs.
In April of 1955 Bill married his sweetheart, Pat, and together they had four children, Jack, Garry, Kevin and Maureen. Bill and Pat moved to Grande Prairie where Bill worked as a heavy duty mechanic. Later on in life he worked from home repairing and restoring firearms. He was meticulous in everything he did and was very proud of his work.
Bill loved hunting and fishing. For many years he loved to watch the sun rise behind a duck blind in a farmer’s field on a crisp September morning, with his faithful dog by his side.
Everyone who met Bill will remember his great laugh and sense of humor. He loved to tease and flirted with all the girls, including the wonderful caregivers at the GP Care Centre!
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat, and children, Jack (Rita) O’Toole, Garry (Penny) O’Toole, Kevin (Cathy) O’Toole and Maureen (Robert) Lange, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Florence Christian and brother Mike O’Toole. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Emma O’Toole and his siblings, George, Alice, Lawrence, Jim and Jack.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24th, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
