Maurice, we all knew the time would come when God would come to carry you away, but that doesn’t make it any easier to say good-bye. The one thing you left us with, and we will cherish forever, are the memories we have of all the good times we had together. There was a lot of fun and laughter, and sometimes tears, but through it all we knew we could count on you for your love and support when we needed it. You were such a wonderful and kind-hearted big brother and the best memories we shared were the times we spent together between our first hello and our last good-bye. We will never forget you and we’ll love you forever. Ray and Dorothy Gloria and Gib

Our deepest sympathy for the passing of our dear friend. Pete met Morris when he work for Forestry more that 20 years ago. Although Pete was wild at heart and a little rough around the edges, Maurice and Pete quickly became close friends immediately. During his time on the tower Pete loved to go visit Maurice being sure to always take a recent paper, ice cream and of course peanut butter cookies. Maurice always returned the favor when out of the tower by dropping by with cakes, pies or pastries. He will be greatly missed but will always remain in our thoughts and held close to our hearts. We Love you Maurice.

What an incredible legacy Maurice has left to the wildfire community! Years of exemplary service on forest fire lookouts. Maurice played a key role in mentoring new lookout observers in the area and I dare say quite a few supervisors as well. He raised the bar pretty darn high in his pride and dedication to the job. Even the out buildings at Kakwa tower were so spotless that I often hesitated to walk in with my boots on! Thanks for the tea, muffins and all of the sage advice over the years Maurice. Tim
