Obituary of Gerhard Scherer
Gerhard will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 wonderful years.
Gerhard was occupied as an underground miner, he suffered a back injury and other work related injuries as he was a very strong worker. He filled his time as a custodian, miner, school instructor, Swan Taxi driver and carrier for Canada Post. He also spent much of his time raising four children and enjoyed it as he was a loving Father.
His hobbies were playing chess and enjoyed the outdoors; camping, mushroom packing and enjoyed cooking. In his younger years in Germany he was a semi-professional wrestler.
Gerhard will be lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn, sons Karl, Gordon, and Max, 19 grandkids and 10 great grandkids whom he loved very dearly and taught the meaning of spirituality. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Karla Scherer and Margaretta Scherer and sister-in-law Nora.
He is pre-deceased by his daughter Kathy Leavitt, parents Karl and Anna Scherer, as well as his sister Benedicta.
A private Catholic Mass for the family will be held in Grande Prairie at a later date.
