Obituary of Richard E. Brace

March 8, 1943 – April 27, 2016 Richard ‘Dick’ Eldon Brace was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 8, 1943 to Mary and Arthur Brace. Richard completed his tenth grade in 1959 and obtained his plumbing certification in 1962. He expanded his knowledge from there which allowed him to start his own company in 1967 – Dick’s Mobile Home Service – which he owned and operated. He remained self-employed from 1967 onward. The job allowed him to meet and work with new people regularly from which he found great enjoyment. Although Richard was born in Calgary and raised on a farm in Southern Alberta, he favored the Peace Country, particularly Grande Prairie, calling it his permanent home for nearly half a century. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who loved animals, animal conservation, hunting, and camping. Richard was also glad to have five children whom he enjoyed spending time with. After a long journey with heart and lung disease, Richard passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II hospital on the morning of Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the age of 73. Richard was predeceased by his Father Arthur. He will be remembered by his Mother Mary – who will be 100 in June; his wife of 20 years – Julie; his five siblings – Carol, Vince, Arthur, David, and Les; his children – Desmond, Garrett, Charmaine, Pamela, and Nadine; and his grandchildren. There will be a private service for family and close friends on Saturday, May 7. Care has been entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home 780-830-7742 www.bearcreekfuneral.com
