John Wories unexpectedly went to be with his Savior on May 30, 2016, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. John was born in Groningen, Netherlands and came to Canada at age 18. He travelled to BC where he met and married Theresa, his wife of 63 years. They lived in the Fraser Valley area until they moved to the Yukon in 1969 and in 1994 they moved to Debolt, Alberta. John (Gramps) dearly loved his family and had a passion for helping them. He loved wiener roasts and campfire times. He will be greatly missed. Forever he will be “Grandpa” to so many of us. John is survived by his wife Theresa, daughters; Shirley (Robert) Mackin and Darlene (Joe) MacDonald; grandchildren; Nadine Stewart, Jackie Fogarty, Steven Wories (Alex), David MacDonald; great grandchildren; Cole and Ryan Fogarty and Danica and Sam Wories; and his sisters; Tineka (Charlie), and Corrie Wagenaar and foster daughter Vera Bossenberry. John was predeceased by his parents Peter and Sietske Wories. A Celebration of Life for John Wories will be held on Tuesday, June 7th at 1 pm at Gospel Light Church, Debolt, AB Following the service, everyone is invited to join the family at the center for refreshments and fellowship.
