Obituary of Anna Purves

In loving memory of Anna Purves who passed away at the Grande Prairie Hospital on June 3, 2016 at the age of 90, we share that she has gone home to be with Jesus. Anna was born in Swalwell, AB to Peter and Katharina Jantz. In 1936 she moved with her family to Crooked Creek, AB. She married William Purves January 6, 1952 and lived on a farm near Clairmont, AB where they raised 5 children. In 1969 they lived to a farm near Hythe, AB until the last six years of her life where she lived in senior and nursing homes. She loved to sing, sew, crochet, cook, bake & garden. She loved and was purely content to live the simple farm life. Whether it was teaching the children how to ride a horse, bringing a new born calf into her home to warm it in the middle of the night; she tended her chickens, turkeys and pigs and loved their border collies. In dad’s last years she dedicated her life to being his constant companion and going above and beyond to take care of him. She worked hard on the farm and for her family. Friends and family as well as complete strangers where welcomed into her home and she was always quick to put on the tea and whip up something to eat. All this she did out of pure love for everyone. She will be remembered by her daughter Helen (Asif) Khan, grandchildren Swarn (Maggie) Gill, Joanna Gill; daughter Lorna Purves (Dave Price), granddaughters Ruth Ann Webb (Pat Hotton) and Kim Stratford (Doug Clauson); son William (Liz) Purves and granddaughters Cindy (Tom) Howard, Maria (Chris) Murray, Debbie (Verlin) LaRochelle; daughter Mary Anne (Dan) Finley, grandchildren Chris (Christine) Purves, Angela (Steve) Lloyd, Adam Finley, Dennis (Lorena) Laundriault, Steven Laundriault and Sarah (Matt) Inscho; and son Sam (Sherri) Purves and grandchildren Amanda McMullen, Michael McMullen (Jamie Bressler) and Ben Purves.
