It is with great sadness but relief that we announce the passing of our husband, father and papa who passed peacefully, at 67 years of age, in the presence of his family, after a long battle with poor health on June 2, 2016. Jerry was the last born of ten children to Jochim and Eva Schmaltz, born in Prelate, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1948. He was raised and attended school in Lemfod, Vawn Convent, Leader, Parkdale and Glaslyn, Sask. He married his wife Donna, on May 16, 1970 in North Battleford, Sask. Together they farmed, and after raising four children in Fairholme, Vawn, Spiritwood, Sask., they set out on many adventures. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna, children; Sheldon (Wendy), Bernadette (Jeremy), Jason (Poonam) and Leslie (Shawn), grandchildren: Isaiah, Selah, Manav, Shon, Phoebe, Jovan, Lexi, Sable, Logan, Ashley, Hunter, Duston and Reese, siblings; Eva, Rose, Pete, Katherine, Shirley and Bernadette. He is predeceased by his parents, and siblings Jim, Marie and Betty. A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Saturday, July 9th 2016 at 11am at St. Thomas More Parish, 11130-102 Avenue Fairview AB Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship at the Dunvegan Motor Inn and Suite, 9812-113 Street, Fairview.
