Obituary of Ann McCormick
McCormick, Ann of Grande Cache, Alberta was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on August 9, 1928. Ann passed away on June 24, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Ann is survived by her husband of 69 years, Anthony McCormick Sr. and by her children; Betty (Pat), Carole, June (Peyton), Gale, Bob (Ann), Debbie, Mike (Maxine), Michele, Tony (Linda), Bill (Dulce). Ann is also survived by Sixty Seven Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren, as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends. Ann was predeceased by her parents Hannah & Alexander Geddes, her brothers Richard Geddes, John Geddes & Alex Geddes and her sisters Elizabeth Geddes & Vi Browner. Ann was also predeceased by her son-in-laws Clay McLean & Dave Kosman. Ann always put others ahead of herself, walking through life with a smile on her face & love in her heart; having the ability to warm the hearts of others, using humour as a way to address even the most difficult situations. Ann loved her husband Tony with a deep and abiding love, a love that lasted 70 years, with both of them walking hand in hand with Jesus until she passed in Tony’s arms. Ann loved her children deeply, raising her ten children in the faith of Jesus and instilling into her children a sense of decency, love and compassion, which in turn was passed along to the next generations. In her life Ann fought through many illnesses and hardships, but continued to show a sincere zest for life, with a dogged determination to put her family first and to show her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, leading the family by example and prayer. On the day of her passing Ann gave her family one last gift, although unable to speak for two days, Ann mustered the strength to say “Jesus is with me”…once again putting her family first. Ann will be sorely missed, but her legacy of faith, hope and love will continue to live in her family. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV)
