Obituary of Stuart William W Cormack
Stuart Cormack, 51, passed away unexpectedly on July 9th, 2016 at his family home. He will always be remembered as a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend to many people.
Stuart was born in Burnaby, BC and graduated from Steveston Secondary in 1983. He was heavily involved and excelled in hockey, lacrosse, football and soccer as a kid, often coached by his father, and was offered an opportunity to play professional lacrosse. After completing a year in Criminal Justice studies at Langara Community College, he chose to pursue a career as a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic – firstly in Vancouver, then in 1997 he came to Grande Prairie to raise his young family in a place where he could both work and spend quality time with his wife and two boys. Stuart was a proud team member at the City of Grande Prairie Fleet Department. He was a favorite among his co-workers and loved to laugh and joke with everyone, but most importantly he was a very skilled and hard worker who people could count on.
Stuart was also passionate about his Vancouver sports teams, Nascar, golf, classic rock music, and was a WWII history buff – collecting and building models and memorabilia of the era.
His sons were the light of his life. He raised them to be worthy, respectful young men and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. They will continue to carry on his legacy, inspired by his sense of humor, ability to poke fun at himself, his “inappropriate” hugs, his work ethic and his good heart.
Stuart will be remembered fondly and will be greatly missed by his mother, Aileen, his sister, Alison, his spouse, Heather and his two sons, Tanner (Stephanie) and Kieran. Stuart was predeceased by his father William.
With heavy hearts and kind regards we welcome you to celebrate Stuart’s life as we honor his memory on July 22nd, 2016 from 6pm – 10pm at a come and go reception at Bear Creek Golf Club.
