Obituary of Stephen Alexander Macdonald
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stephen Alexander MacDonald in Grande Cache on September 17, 2016 at the age of 79.
Stephen was born on June 25, 1937 and had three brothers and one sister.
He was a great provider and a hard worker and his jobs over the years included coalminer, milkman and breadman. He married Madeline Roach on July 22, 1957 and she was the great and only love of his life. He missed her terribly when she passed. Together they had three children, Antoinette, Steve and Leo.
When they retired they lived their dream of owning a small piece of land where they had a hobby farm. Stephen loved his horses and enjoyed going on trips into the mountains with them. He also loved baseball; played it when he was young and watched it when he was older. He loved to tell stories… some of them not so true! He adored his grandkids and loved making a fuss over them.
Stephen passed away quietly with his daughter, Antoinette by his side.
He is survived by his children: Antoinette (Dennis) Batten, Steve (Jan) McDonald and Leo(Michelle) McDonald; grandchildren: Nadine (Troy) Burge, April (Lee) Fearnside, Dave (Marta) Batten, Noelle (Roddy) Head, Mason (Emily) McDonald, Taylor (Stephanie) McDonald and Garrett McDonald. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Cole (Alex) Burge, Carra (Kody) Burge, Jayce Fearnside, Blake Batten, Abby Fearnside, Jake Head, Devon Batten, Jett Head and Ivy Head; great,great-grandchildren; Navaya Burge and Alayna Burge and his brother Peter (Debbie) MacDonald and sister Marion (Rod) McNeil as well as several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was predeceased by his wife, Madeline MacDonald, father John D MacDonald, mother Rose MacDonald, brothers Leo and Jacky MacDonald.
The family would like to thank the Grande Cache Health Care Complex and the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital for the wonderful care that was shown to Stephen.
Stephen will be remembered at a private family service.
