Obituary of Alfred Victor Martin Brown
May 24, 1936 – September 24, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our Poppy. He passed away suddenly in the home he built, surrounded by his family.
Al “Mike” Brown was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, the seventh of ten children born to James and Mable Brown. Mike married Stephenia Dean and together with their daughter Linda, moved to Grande Prairie. He became a welder by trade and they bought a quarter section East of Grande Prairie and raised running quarter horses. Horses were a lifelong passion and he was a cowboy in the truest sense of the word. His name changed permanently in 1986 when his first grandchild was born. From then until the present, he was known as Poppy to all. His love of his family was never ending.
Poppy is survived and ever loved by his family: daughters Gail (Randy) Temple, Laura (Randy) Richards; grandchildren: Brent (Valene) Richards who made their lives with Poppy and shared the most precious gift of great-grandchildren; Wyatt and Aralynn; Jesse (Stuart) Richards, great grandson Hudson Richards; Kelly (Marianne) Temple, Stevie Lee (Lynndon) Temple, and Lacee (Brandon) Temple. He is survived by his sisters and brother Edith, Betty, Lavina & Darcy. He is survived and loved by his nieces and nephews in both the Brown and Dean families.
Poppy was predeceased by his wife Stevie Brown, daughter Linda Corey, great granddaughter Rhemi Richards and his siblings Mary, John, Sarah, Pat and George.
A Celebration of Life will take place on October 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Temple Farm. Take the Teepee Highway East to Range Road 50 Head North ½ mile. Please dress for the weather.
