Obituary of Gwenith Patterson

May 30, 1946, Turner Valley AB – September 6, 2013, Grande Prairie AB It is with heavy hearts the family of Gwen Patterson announces her passing. Gwen passed away peacefully with her loving husband Bob at her side on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the age of 67 years. Gwen was born in Turner Valley the third child of Henry and Madge (nee Keddie) Jones. The family moved to Grande Prairie in 1954, and shortly after tragedy struck their family when Madge passed of cancer in 1955. In 1958 Henry remarried to Isabelle Anderson and her two children. Gwen graduated from Grande Prairie Composite High School in 1964. Gwen married her High School sweet heart Bob on September 4, 1965 they lived in Calgary then Drumheller, making many lifelong friends along the way. They returned to Grande Prairie, where they worked, farmed and raised their family. Gwen worked as a Paralegal for 30 years, with various law firms in Alberta. Gwen took much pride in her home, always decorating in the most update cozy country décor. She was an amazing cook and loved to put on a meal for family and friends. Everyone will remember her homemade pies and signature lasagna. Gwen was an accomplished seamstress, needlepoint, petty point and later in life took up the fine art of quilting and many family and friends have beautiful quilts as keepsakes. The most important thing to Gwen was her cherished grandchildren; there was always a birthday card and gift in the mail if she couldn’t be there; never hesitating to travel far to be at dance recitals, hockey games and important moments in their lives. Besides her loving husband of 48 years Bob, Gwen is survived her children, daughter Corinne Patterson; son and daughter-in-law Marc and Candus Patterson; her cherished grandchildren Kyle and Jace Weegar, Paige, Hannah, Beau and Luke Patterson; her mother-in-law Charlotte Patterson; sister Jessie Currie; brother and sister-in-law David and Evelyn Jones; sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Jim Hale; brother David Anderson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Paulette Patterson and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A Memorial Service to celebrate Gwen’s life will be held at Bezanson Memorial Hall (Bezanson, AB) on September 22, 2013 at 2:00pm.
