Obituary of JD Robert Wiebe

March 22, 1955 – October 28, 2016 After a long battle with cancer, Rob passed way at the age of 61 at the Grande Prairie Hospice. Rob was born in Chatham, New Brunswick into a military family that moved to various locations throughout Canada and the U.S.A. After completing his post secondary education, he began a career that spanned 31 years in corrections. He worked in both federal and provincial institutions as well as community corrections. He was awarded an Exemplary Service medal and retired in May 2009. He then began working for Careers: The Next Generation until he was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment. Rob became a professional photographer while working towards completing his degree at the University of Alberta. His love of the arts (ie. music, poetry, drama) began in junior high school. He participated in men’s choirs, published poetry, and had photographs published in Canadian Geographic. Recently Rob received a Lifetime Mentorship award from the Master Photographers International. Rob leaves behind his wife, Korie-Lyn, his son, Roman, his father, Edward, his brother, Mike, his sister, Anne, his mother-in law, Margaret, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members. He was predeceased by his mother Cecile. Prayers for Rob will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 7pm, and a Celebration of Life / Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11 am followed by a luncheon, at St. Joseph‘s Roman Catholic Church 10404 – 102 Street Grande Prairie.
