Obituary of Frank William Kish
September 12, 1925 – October 28, 2016
Frank was born in Jugoslavia to parents Frank Kish Senior of Pakrac, Hungary; and Katarina Kish (nee, Karol) of Jugoslavia.
Frank Jr. and his brother Steve Kish, along with their mother Katarina emigrated to Canada in 1931. Frank Kish SR. Had travelled to Canada prior to his wife and children joining him. Once reunited, the family settled in the Friedenstal area near Fairview, Alberta.
Frank enlisted with the army and proudly served his country between the years of 1941 – 1953, at which time he was “honorably discharged.” During WWII, Frank battled in Italy and Sicily. Frank also fought in the Korean War between 1950 and 1952.
In 1947, Frank married Mary Arnold. They had four children; Joe, born in 1948; Diane, in 1950; Ken, in 1957; and Karen, in 1959.
After being discharged from the army, Frank worked at H.N.R. Lumber in Fairview, until relocating to Grande Prairie, where he established his own painting company- K&T painting. Frank retired from painting when he reached 65 years old.
Frank enjoyed curling, playing horseshoes, reading western novels, watching western movies, and drinking Rye Whiskey.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Frank SR. and Katarina; His brother, Steve Kish; his sister Mary Bliska; his sons Joe and Ken and an infant sister.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary (nee, Arnold); his daughter, Diane Schlosser (Bob Steeves); daughter, Karen; his daughter n’ laws; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, with an 11th great-grandchild on the way; he is also survived by his brother Joe (Violet) Kish, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Frank Kish will be held at the Army, Navy, Airforce Club, 10117-93 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta on Saturday November 5, 2016, from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.
