Allen Lowe

Obituary of Allen Lowe

Allen Lowe was born on April 19, 1923 in Spruce Grove and passed away peacefully in the QE II hospital on November 3, 2016 at the age of 93 years. His parents, Maurice and Lena Lowe, his sisters, Ruth Albright and Bertha Hauger and his brother Joe Lowe, son-in-law Dennis as well as his cherished wife of 62 years, Annie, and many other family and friends predeceased him. Allen is survived by his daughters and their families: Cheryl (Kirk Lowe, Tanya, Joe & Sierra Lowen), Donna & Jim Hartum (Melissa, Steve, Austin & Emery Breitkreuz, Jeff & Chase Hartum, Joline, Dean, Maddie, William, Sydney & Callie Anderson), Denise (Dustin, Daylen Hotte, Kanei & DJ Iwikau), Judy & Dale Carlson (Kelby, Denis & Kayden Koenig, Keaton Carlson & Anna Lengstrand), Erin & Wayne Vig (Devon Vig & Betty Mah & LaRae Vig), Wendy & Lee Tindall (Desiree, Doug & Sawyer Saunders, Jasmine, Riley, Hayes & Harlen Swanberg, Bailee Tindall & Tyler Neighbour). Allen is also survived by his sisters: Agnes (Jim) Patterson, Beulah Sanderson, Margie Hodgson as well as Annie’s family, Fred (Ilene) Schenk, Verna Whitlock, Helen Matthews (Henry), Lorraine (Orest) Oucharek, Eldon Ray and many nieces and nephews. Allen’s family moved to Beaverlodge when he was 4 years old. After a few years of renting a farm just north of town, they homesteaded their own farm west of Saskatoon Mountain. Here he stayed for the next 85 years, watching his parents raise their family and then after marrying Annie in 1953, raising his own family of six daughters with Annie until 2010 when he and Annie moved to Amisk Court in Beaverlodge. He supported his growing family mainly by farming but worked many winters away as a heavy equipment operator. The only time we ever really saw dad moving fast was when he was getting ready to go hunting, not that he ever really brought much home but he sure did enjoy those times away with his male friends and getting away from a houseful of females. Allen was an active volunteer member for over 50 years and worked countless hours at the South Peace Centennial Museum rebuilding and maintaining antique steam engines, tractors and equipment. He was an intelligent, kind, patient man who had a calming effect on anyone who had the privilege of being around him. He was a man who lived a full and wonderful life loving well and being well loved. Funeral Service held in Beaverlodge, Alberta on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 11 AM at Beaverlodge Alliance Church. Donations in Allen’s memory can be made to the South Peace Centennial Museum (Box 493, Beaverlodge) or a charity of one’s choice.
